We here at the Viscount have felt so much support from you with your interest in our classes. We believe that we have enriched the cultural experience of the Portland community through dance for our 24 years in business. Make no mistake, there is little money to be made in the dance studio business, but your support has enabled us to remain open during 2 recessions, and a pandemic. This is major. A dance studio of our size, and in such a central location, has increasing expenses that are due regardless of lingering effects of COVID, bad weather closures, and theft. Consider showing your appreciation with an additional donation to ensure the studio remains operable even during lean times. We appreciate it more than you know.

DONATE to The Viscount

Another way to support us is to support a fellow dancer! The gift can be anonymous or signed and can be for a drop-in ($16), 4 Class Pass ($55), 8 Class Pass ($100). The passes will not expire, and I know for a fact the recipient will be overjoyed! If you want to give, but not necessarily to anyone specific, then please consider making a general gift (of any amount) to The Viscount and we will disperse as needed.

WHO DO WE SUPPORT?

We also want you to know where we stand as a business when it comes to social equality, equanimity, and serving our local and global communities. Viscount has long been a supporter of local and global organizations that we feel are making our communities better places to live, like: Central City Concern, Dove Lewis, The Dougie Center, the International Committee for the Red Cross, Unidos por Puerto Rico, the ACLU, the NAACP, Black Lives Matter, the Black Resilience Fund, Planned Parenthood…and many more.

The Viscount is run and owned by a mixed-race woman, and these days more than ever it is important to for us to support local businesses that are owned and operated by our BIPOC neighbors, and other underserved groups. Here are some useful links to help you learn about and find small businesses to support:

And because music is such a large part of how and why we do what we do, we support KQAC, KMHD, KBOO, OPB, the Jeremy Wilson Foundation, and My Voice Music.

Know that when you spend money at the Viscount your tuition goes towards more than just payroll, basic operational expenses, insurance, rent, music + music licensing (we ALWAYS pay for the music we use), and our student “community gift” fund. We put as much towards important non-profits every year, throughout the year, no matter what. And for that we thank YOU :)
