A practice night for new and seasoned dancers interested in Salsa, Cha Cha, Bachata. Once a month The Viscount will provide not just the space to practice (without the pressure of the night clubs and socials), but hands on help with your technique, a social atmosphere, and snacks (What!?).
A practica is the perfect mix of social dancing and class learning that enables your dance to grow as much as your social life :) Here you are free to work on technique, practice your shines, meet new dancers, and even try out the opposite role! New dancers can wet their toes, so to speak, in both Salsa and Cha Cha (and Bachata, too!) in this all ages, all genders, all experience levels, welcoming, and casual environment. Experienced dancers can perfect more specific technique and develop shines/footwork to enhance their expanding repertoire. It's early in the evening, so you can still go out social dancing afterwards! Throughout the 2.5 hours of the practica, short 10 minute lessons will be sprinkled in with longer stretches of DJed music, each focusing on different styles of dance (Salsa, Cha Cha, Bachata), turn technique, footwork, or body movement. Got something you want to work on? Let us know! We will be taking requests.
A short 10 minute lesson, followed by 20 minutes of music makes for a great practice session, and a great warm up for those looking to hit the clubs later!
Refreshments, light snacks, lessons, and a good time - $8
5/25 SAT 2:00-4:00p $25 online/$30 studio
Cha Cha has been around for a very long time but it's music is the perfect vehicle for Boogaloo and modern Pachanga steps as well, particularily the Cha Cha coming out of Cuba and New York in the 60s and 70s. Accept the challenge, and learn how to fuse the 3! We will spend the first hour on movement, musicality, and footwork in Cha Cha, Boogaloo, and modern Pachanga. The second hour will be dedicated to Cha Cha partner work and where to add in the Boogaloo and Pachanga concepts we worked on in the first half. This class is not for first time dancers, so if you've done Cha Cha before, prepare for a pleasant surprise. Beg/Int Salsa level recommended.
